My client, a leading automotive manufacturer, based in Warwickshire, are looking to recruit a HIL Engineer to join their Electrical Engineering division on a long-term contract basis.

Position:HIL Engineer - Battery Management Systems (BMS)

Position Description:

Requirements gathering for BMS SW robustness and accuracy verification activity to form a basis for test case definition
Supporting the robust engineering activities including FMEA reviews, noise factor analysis, countermeasure development, root cause analysis etc
Definition of test cases in line with customer requirements. Test activity planning
Review of the test cases and seek agreement with all relevant stakeholders prior to test execution Component requirements validation and testing at all V&V levels in line with internal product development process
Evaluation of tests results using suitable functional or analytical tool set, supported by adequate understanding of BMS SW functionality
Provide adequate information from tests to SW team with the focus on battery/vehicle operating regions in which BMS SW performance is compromised
Data collection on BMS performance to demonstrate statistical stability across the fleet of up to 50 vehicles. - Ensure that the data generated meets the requirement of the project, prepare data and reports in line with customer requirements
Identify and highlight quality problems and help to find solutions using accepted processes
Supervising the test rigs and BMS units operating in vehicles
Support system engineering and vehicle sign off activities managed by Power Supply Team

Skills Required:

Ability to lead all system engineering activities that proceeds from concept to production to operation Ability to manage both business and technical needs of all customers with the goal of proving quality products that meets the user needs
Electrical system integration
Test use case deployment in dSpace Control Desk
Data processing and model development in Matlab/Simulink, FMEA creation and/or moderation Lead acid battery operation and testing

Skills Preferred:

Suppliers management
Project management
Systems engineering principles
Root cause analysis/5Y/Fishbone, AIMS updates, SW issue list update

Experience Required:

HIL and vehicle testing experience
Capability to assess the task and plan onward accordingly
VECTOR tools: CANalyser, CANoe, CANape, setting up, data logging and monitoring
Understanding of LIN, CAN, SPI protocols
Requirements database experience ie DOORS, RMDV2
Functional safety ISO26262

Experience Preferred:

Experience in automotive system/software engineering (Automotive OEM or Tier1)
Experience in project management for software delivery
Experience in Battery Management System or comparable complex/safety relevant systems Programming experience in tools such as C++/MatLab/Simulink

Education Required:

Engineering degree at MSc level or higher
