HFC/CMTS Engineer

Link Technologies is currently looking for an HFC/CMTS Engineer for an exciting opportunity in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is a 6 month contract with possibility of going permanent with a fast paced gaming and hospitality environment in Las Vegas, NV.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The HFC/CMTS Engineer will support the overall direction, implementation, and support of technologies that support the Guest Technology IP over coax solutions; including IP Video, Internet, and corporate systems data traffic.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS:

- Strong 'Cable' domain knowledge skills and experience in triple play technologies (video, voice and data)
- Excellent Technical knowledge of video transmission equipment and video encoders.
- Engineering level expertise in cable HFC optical nodes, including optimization and certification, configuration, forward and reverse sweeping theoretical and practical activities
- Ability to design, troubleshoot and support RF coax based cable plants supporting DOCSIS and Video QAM.
- Excellent understanding of video network eco-system, video products and packages supporting broadcast video and data.
- Excellent Knowledge of CableLabs DOCSIS and Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS)
- Cisco/Scientific Atlanta.
- Good understanding of wireless technologies such as WiFi.
- Experience in deployment and configuration of vendor components including fiber nodes and associated transmit/receiving equipment..
- Good awareness of global trends and technologies in the cable industry.
- Self-motivated and result-oriented, good team player.
- Strong written and verbal skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient with MS Office tools.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- This job classification has no direct reports but will oversee and supervise activities of outside contractors and internal resources.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

- 10+ years in HFC cable plant design and operation and best practices.
- 5+ years in CMTS implementation and operational management on a Cisco platform.
- Demonstrated experience in IPTV over DOCSIS technologies.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Prior experience working in a growing, fast-paced organization with a dynamic environment.
- Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance, adhering to client's standards.
- Must be able to work in the United States.

- Regular scheduled hours - Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
