Head of Strategic Finance/Head of Finance

My London based Public Sector client is seeking a Head of Strategic Finance/Head of Finance/Strategic Head of Finance for a contract initially until the 30th September 2014.

Key tasks for the Head of Strategic Finance/Head of Finance/Strategic Head of Finance:

* Provide the Board, Executive Committee, the Project Resource Committee (PRC) and other senior management groups high quality performance management information and analysis, on a timely basis.
* Leading the client's work on introducing project based accounting and monthly reporting
* Plan and manage business planning, ensuring that it is supported by good quality financial analysis, to produce succinct, clear business plans matched with annual budgets reconciled to available funding.
* Support the Head of Accounts in the provision of strategic financial management information to management.
* The postholder will ensure strategic threats to the delivery of objectives are visible to the Board and senior management, through maintenance and structured review of the client's corporate risk register. The postholder may be involved in the facilitation of risk workshops to help identify potential threats and risk mitigation strategies.
* The postholder will ensure the client's budget is well managed so that the client uses its resources effectively, and remains within all relevant control totals.
* To oversee the provision of secretariat support to Audit Committee and Audit Committee Chair.
* The postholder will be a member of the Finance senior management team, and will be expected to contribute to the wider aims of the Group, helping to coach members.
* Additionally the post holder will be required to support the Director of Finance and Commercial in her role as Departmental Security Officer (DSO) and to act as the Deputy DSO role. This sound be seen as a developmental role and support will be provided.
