Interim Head of Business Operations sought by our London based public sector client for an initial 9 month contract.

As Head of Business Operations you will lead and manage the council's Business Operations support function. You will work alongside the Customer & Business Operations Director and Business Support Programme Manager and may have up to 6 direct reports.

You will be responsible for the design and establishment of the new corporate business operations support service. Through this you will Initiate and manage improvements and changes to deliver planned efficiency savings.

In addition you will lead the successful transition of services migrating to business operations support including but not exclusively: Humans resources, Facilities Management and ICT helpdesk and transactional services. You will also provide business support for Children's and Public Realm (Neighbourhoods) services.

As Head of Business Operations you will plan and ensure service delivery within a complex/diverse service area. You will also control operational activities within the service area and ensure professional standards are delivered.

You will work across a broad range of senior managers, directors, members, and equivalent levels in external bodies and partners. You will be required to initiate proactive contact and relationship forming negotiations within an operational, programme and political environment.

It is also important to consult with stakeholders to identify requirements. You will also lead partnership working with internal/external services/organisations.

This is a high profile appointment and you will be expected to exercise professional judgement in assessing risk to clients or others and quality assurance of service. You will manage complex/high risk issues within a framework of policy and procedures.

You will be creative and be able to demonstrate innovative problem solving of complex issues, often in situations where there is ambiguity and a significant degree of judgement is required in relation to risks outside the remit of existing policy. Thinking and acting strategically in decision making in a complex professional and political environment.

To be successful as the Head of Business Operations you will ideally have proven experience of leading the design and initial consolidation and set-up of business services operations including:

- Humans resources, FM and ICT helpdesk and transactional services
- Payments and systems procurement transactional services
- Initial onboarding of Children's and Public Realm Neighbourhoods business support staff

You will also have demonstrable evidence of successfully managing customer and business services operations functions in a programme and project management environment undergoing substantial organisational, service team and individual business change.

You will also have experience of establishing sustainable working relationships with diverse senior officer stakeholders.

In this role you will managing revenue budgets in excess of £2.5m per annum, including prioritising and targeting resources in a cost effective way to secure demonstrable value-for-money outcomes. Therefore cost centre management experience is essential.

Ultimately you will have the presence and strategic. operational and change management experience necessary to take on this exciting role in the public sector.
