HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) Engineer

A Renewable Energy client are looking for a HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) Engineer to work on an wind farm project in the North West UK. The Engineer will work 5 days a week (8-10 hours per day); and will start in the beginning of March 2014 and end by 30 September 2015. This is a 19 month freelance contract with possibility of extensions.

Responsibilities:

Technical tender preparation
Sea Defence Wall investigations
Network Rail Crossing Agreement
Secure that all consents are agreed before mobilisation
Negotiations with HDD contractors (pre-qualified)
Decision upon planning of HDD duct solution
Interfaces, Consents and restrictions
Review of RAMS incl. QHSE follow up with HSE Manager
Thermal calculations follow up
Drilling profile preparation, mechanical pulling forces
Site visits at land fall and on specific onshore locations
Handling of crossing agreements
Supervision on site during execution phase in 2015
As Built documentation

Qualification of Candidate

Courses/Certification:
Sea farers Offshore Medical
One Day First Aid Course
Firefighting course
Sea survival and transfer training
VLF Testing training or experience
OTDR testing training or experience
All training shall be in accordance with GWO standards.

HDD works
CDM requirements
Network Rail Crossing Agreements

Special Provision

The successful Consultant must bring his/her own PC with Microsoft Office 2007 software and a mobile telephone. The Client will provide access to their systems.

The Client will provide office facilities to the Consultant including office space. The Consultant must bring own PPE for working offshore.
