Hardware Platform Application Engineer

Our client is building platforms for the Consumer Electronics market segment and enabling Independent Software Vendor (ISV) applications on those platforms. This is an opportunity on a team responsible for working closely with hardware and software engineers from the ISV/OEM to help them design, port and integrate their applications on top of client software/hardware platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Hardware Platform Application Engineer (HWPAE) provides customer design support for System-on-Chip products. The HWPAE develops product design collateral, reviews customer's schematics and layout designs, and provides on-site power-on debug support for customer designs. The HWPAE must have the ability to quickly triage, root cause and develop fixes in a complex Embedded software environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS

- Minimum 2 years' experience in the areas below
- Hardware board design
- Design, development, testing and utilization of platform level hardware including schematics and layout
- Test and power-on debug of board-level designs using JTAG
- Development of documentation to support hardware platforms ie data sheets, thermal design guides, architecture specs, etc.

NICE TO HAVE

- Working experience in Embedded software, firmware, or hardware development
- Hands-on experience with ITP debugger tool
- familiarity with IA processor architectures
- Experience in Linux operating systems and development tools
- Familiarity with media processing subsystems: Transport stream processing, Security processing, Video and Audio decoding and rendering, Graphics/Display processing
- Experience with consumer electronics platform design and development a plus
