HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER/HARDWARE ENGINEER

ROLE PURPOSE

The role of the ATC Hardware Design Engineer is to support the development of new or revised PC based hardware system designs for our client.

Working closely with customers, users and the engineering design office, production and field service teams, designs are developed within project constraints of time and cost to take full account of user requirements, development, manufacture, production, installation and lifetime maintenance.

The role includes close working support to review pre-production build and associated design drawings, including support to the design of test tools where necessary. This may require the development of installation support tools. This requires troubleshooting of existing designs and reviewing hardware design decisions on new ATC equipment to customer specification.

This role provides close support to the hardware design authority role. There is an occasional need to cover pre-production or drawing roles.

HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER/HARDWARE ENGINEER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design of PC based systems, including both analog and digital components where necessary;
- Interfacing with Pre-production, Drawing Office, Production and Field Service teams to agree new designs and presentation of these to key stakeholders;
- Production of specifications for external suppliers as part of the design;
- Investigation and resolution of technical issues during production or in-service;
- Support to the design of test tools and installation support tools.
- Development and maintenance of design engineering documents and production support documents;
- Design of networked systems to support multi-sensor ATC systems;
- Translating customer requirements for new or modified systems into proposed and ultimately fully engineered designs compliant to requirements and key standards;
- Reviewing hardware and network architecture;
- Ensure safety is foremost in all activities.
