Hardware and Software Technician

Our client is the leading computer components brand seeking a HARDWARE/SOFTWARE TECHNICIAN to work on a team that maintains an internal hosting service. Candidate will be landing and supporting hardware; along with installing, configuring, and maintaining multiple operating systems and their derivatives. There is about a 50/50 mix of Linux (Ubuntu and SUSE primarily) and Windows (Server 2008 and Server 2012) in the environment. Familiarity with compiling software on various platforms is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE:

- Hardware/Software/Operating System Installations, Troubleshooting, and System Support
- Working with Windows and Linux OS
- Responding to hardware outages and system level alerts
- Working in both a lab environment and office environment with a team of System Engineers

NECESSARY SKILLS:

- Hardware/Software installations
- Hardware/Software troubleshooting
- Linux- Ubuntu and SUSE
- Windows Server 2008 and 2012
- Must be capable of lifting up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis
- Communication: great verbal and written skills, follows up on tasks, sends status updates
- Ability to multitask effectively

NICE TO HAVE:

- Mac OS, Android familiarity
- VMware
- Linux Shell Scripting
