Functional Itarchitect Non-Life Insurance (Brussels)

Je functie: Context of the mission
The candidate will work within the Non-Life IS division. This group is responsible for all Non-Life products related developments (maintenance and new functionalities) of underwriting
applications or claims management. The applications are developed based on a Cobol / DB2 back-office, with various technologies used on the visual side (mainly web enabled)..
As a Functional Architect you will mainly:
- Challenge and structure business requirements
- Design efficient solutions responding to business requirements (functional an non-functional) , the IT capabilities and target visions of the IT systems
- Make impact analysis on existing systems and estimations of the proposed solution
- Describe high level services
- Coach functional designer during the detailed design phase

The Application Development Functional Architect deals on a daily basis with senior management, peers and junior staff, both internally and externally, with business and
professional skills in Information Technology.

Objective of the job (summary)
Identify business requirements and propose solutions aligned with business expectations that fit into the architectural vision.
Several projects are requiring the intervention of an architect. Projects with launch dates in 2015 and 2016. Projects have started already.
1. Identify business requirements through appropriate means e.g. interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, …
2. Challenge & consolidate information gathered from multiple sources including IT experts.
3. Define conceptual architecture and ensure business requirements and IT vision fit in.
4. Propose and evaluate options taking into account all project parameters.
5. Explain consolidated requirements, solution & assumptions to project stakeholders adapting message to the target audience.
6. Validate during implementation, in collaboration with development teams, that the implemented solution is aligned with the proposed architecture & if necessary
take corrective actions (in the architecture design or in the implementation).

° Experience with Application Development of Administrative systems in an IT department (as functional designer 5 years or functional architect 1 year)
° Able to capture main topics in discussions with technical IT people
° Mastering of MS-office tools
° Service Oriented architecture & Enterprise Application Integration patterns & challenges

Preferable
° Web based of Client/Server systems with MF back-end (Cobol / DB2)
° .NET/Biztalk
° DWH

Functional experience required 3-5 Years Experience
Mandatory
° Significant experience as Business and Functional Analyst, ideally in large company, in direct contact with Business stakeholders
° Have at least one significant experience as architect:
Service Oriented Architecture, design patterns, architecture methodologies
° Experience with analysis methodologies.

Preferable
° Experience in Functional Enterprise Architecture (through projects)
° Insurance and/or Banking applications
