BASIC FUNCTION:

Under immediate supervision, assist in preparing and serving meals, and cleaning the kitchen, utensils, and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- Receive and verify food from caterer.
- Store, heat, serve, and package meals according to caterers specifications.
- Apportion food, butter, condiments, and desserts for service counter or individual service.
- Obtain food supplies from refrigerator or storeroom.
- Deliver food and return dishes and utensils.
- Clean and maintain dishes, kitchen utensils, stoves, steam tables, and other equipment as assigned.
- Sweep and mop kitchen and dining area.
- May assist in delivery of meals to home bound clients.
- Cut meat, butter bread, and break crackers to make it easier for people to eat their meals.
- May clean, peel, and cut vegetables or other food.
- May assist in preparing beverages, sandwiches, salads, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
- While no specific educational level, or job related experience is stated, position requires the ability to understand and follow basic instructions and to communicate simple, job-related issues.
- Ability to perform simple mechanical tasks with common household appliances (oven, blender, etc.) required.
