Field Service Technician

Our client is a high-visibility petroleum and petrol services corporation seeking a Systems and Telecommunications Support resource to work as part of a team providing support to office and field operations facilities in the Bakersfield area. This candidate will also provide supplemental tech support for locations in El Segundo and Brea in the Los Angeles area on a temporary as-needed basis. To qualify for this contract opportunity, you must be able to work independently to provide skilled telecom technical support for installation, configuration, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems and associated equipment including Cisco Voice Over IP, pipeline SCADA support, support for data network Switches, Nortel PBX w/Meridian Option 11, 61, and/or 81, Voicemail Systems Meridian Mail and Call Pilot, as well as Key Systems.

Vehicle, cell phone, laptop and tools provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide telephone installation and support services including connection and voice mail setup.
- Perform troubleshooting and MAC support for all telecom equipment.
- Diagnose, test, repair cable/wiring problems (wiring closet to desktop and backbone).
- Maintain SCADA communications network, including hardware and communications infrastructure.
- Work with Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) and Long Distance carriers to isolate and resolve communications circuit troubles
- Use Cross Functional ticketing system (Remedy) for reporting, documenting, and tracking problems as well as internal billing and inventory control.
- Provide on-call after hours trouble support on rotating basis.

REQUIREMENTS:

- 5+ years in Telecom support experience
- Telco experience a plus
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Possible (rare) overnight travel may be required
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, walk and stand for long periods of time
- Excellent driving record (vehicle provided)
- High School diploma or GED
