A Renewable Energy client is looking for a Consultant to work as a Fabrication Inspection Engineer for various offshore wind farm projects.
Our client is looking an individual who can start this 13 month role from 4th January 2016 to approx. 31st January 2017 with the possibility of further extension. This is a full time contract role working 5 days a week, 8 hours in average, evening and weekend work may occur.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Support Fabrication Mgr. in participation to witness, hold points inspection and FAT agreed in the Contractors ITP
- Provide practical input to and follow up on implementation of fabrication relevant communication Technical Queries (TQ)
- Spot check of Contractors performance in regards to material inspection and weld preparation
- Verification of welder's certification and use of WPS by performing spot checks
- Spot check of contractors NDT of welding performance and NDT equipment, NDT reporting
- Verification of welder's certification and use of WPS by performing spot check
- Spot check of contractors NDT of welding performance and NDT equipment, NDT reporting
- Verification of NDT operator's certification by spot check
- Final inspections of steel work before surface treatment incl contractor's documentation
- Dimensional checks of structures incl. check of position, dim of profiles and tolerances
- Spot check coating: Coating facilities, surface preparation, inspection during coating process, paint reports and cathodic protection
- Review the contractors as-built documentation
QUALIFICATION OF CANDIDATES:
- 5 years practical as well as theoretical experience within offshore and/or steel construction or an individual who is familiar with steel fabrication and inspection, NDT and coating such as: IWI/IWS International Welding Inspector/Specialist, IWT/IWE international Welding Technician/Welding Engineer and Frosio light
- Strong technically, adaptable, work well in teams, strong communication abilities
- Good communication skills written and verbal
SPECIAL PROVISIONS:
- The Consultant must bring his or her PC with MS Office 2007 software or newer and mobile telephone
