External Relations Manager

My London based client is seeking an External Relations Manager/Corporate Communications Manager for a contract until the end of March 2014.

The External Relations Manager/Corporate Communications Manager role will involve external and corporate communications and involve stakeholder relations, annual report planning and delivery, external engagement and speech writing, event planning and delivery and project co-ordination.

Main Tasks for the External Relations Manager/Corporate Communications Manager:
* Developing a project plan for the delivery of the client's final Annual Report 2013-14
* Delivering the Annual Report to its sign-off and publishing deadlines, including writing a significant amount of the Report's content
* Maintaining the client's corporate Stakeholder Relationship Management processes by engaging with Stakeholder Relationship Managers across the organisation, updating stakeholder relationship information, producing quarterly reports and supporting relationship transition.
* Leading the delivery of three events
* Contributing to non-news channels including the client's newsletter and blog, to communicate and amplify the client's core messages
* Supporting the Communications workstream Programme Director on project management and co-ordination of the transition communications programme
* Working closely with Internal Comms, Press Office and Marketing and Campaigns to ensure a joined-up approach to the client's Communications and to contribute to effective team working.

Skills/Knowledge for the External Relations Manager/Corporate Communications Manager:
* Broad communications skill set, in particular, experience of effective stakeholder engagement and strategic stakeholder relationship management in a complex policy environment: internally, across Government and externally
* A proven track record of delivering communication projects effectively to deadlines
* A proven track record of producing and delivering complex written material, such as Annual Reports and Plans, in a style which is accessible and engaging
* Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure buy-in and delivery through listening and engagement
* Understands the project context and the value of their contribution, referring on risks or issues relating to their specific tasks
