Excel VBA Developer

Eingestellt von NES IT

Gesuchte Skills: Vba, Client, Engineering

Projektbeschreibung

NES Global Talent's global client has an urgent contract role for an Excel VBA Developer foir an initial 3 week contract. The role will be based in The Hague in Netherlands and will be paid between £250 - £400 per day.

Our client is a global organisation who has secured a large contract in a European city. The are urgently seeking an Excel VBA Developer to join their team to set up a large programme of work that is due to begin ASAP.

THE ROLE

The organisation are performing an inspection/repair job on multiple pieces of equipment (c.55,000 individual items). Each item is broadly the same (same size, shape, etc) Items are spread over a reasonably large area (c.4 square miles). Each piece will take us c.15 minutes to process/inspect/
document. They will take pictures too, which obviously need to interface with whatever system used for upload.

The idea is to minimise possible error in data collection and input the data using an App or Web Page directly from site, using tablet/phone/etc. They believe there is 3G (or perhaps 4G) signal in this area. If there is no internal connection, we must not interrupt the process (data upload delays cannot dictate project schedule). Instant upload isn't mandatory (we don't need to check it every few minutes), but we do need to know that it is securely stored (so getting it off the local device onto a cloud system at the earliest minimises risk of data loss I think). What they cannot afford to do is have lost data and need to go back and retake photos etc.

Each piece of equipment has a bar code (a very standard barcode type I believe, as attached), which will be used as the unique ID to reference each of the 55000 items. This bar code needs to be read with the portable device camera and used to ensure we have no human error in inputting the unique ID to create the date record (user needs to verify that the barcode is scanned correctly).

There could be times when this barcode does not scan correctly, so we need a manual override function here. Processing rates will fluctuate. There could be processing/uploading of around 400 items per day (this would be using 5x tablets due to the nature of how our teams are split), or we could be uploading up to 1200 items per day (this could be using 15 tablets say).

The ultimate goal of this is to create a database that it searchable in any one of the 10 fields of data (including the barcode reference which will be the main method to tie this to another database that already exist). They don't want to interface automatically with this other database yet (we don't know what it is, it might be excel/access/ANO).

This is a one-time use/one-hit system, and will be used over a period of 8 months. We won't need to worry about potential forward compatibility to the 2019 version of whatever tablet/cloud/etc we might use.
