Duties & Responsibilities

In conjunction with Depth Maintenance Chief, provide systems software expertise for JEWCS assets to provide continuity in the Technical Branch.

Act as the NATO JEWCS technical expert for the control and MMI software for JEWCS assets.

Identifies software solutions to resolve software problems, modify the MMI to meet user needs and modify control software to account for equipment changes.

Maintains software configuration control of JEWCS EW asset software.

In addition to software knowledge, maintains a level of knowledge of JEWCS EW assets to enable him to maintain continuity of Depth Support to support the EW Systems Technicians.

Carries out technical training for JEWCS EW technicians and familiarisation training for operators.

When required, with Depth Maintenance Chief, works in liaison with contractors and potential contractors to improve system knowledge, equipment capabilities and potential improvements.

Has a close working relationship with workshop supervisors providing them with technical advice and carrying out research with contractors and other information sources where such information is not available internally.

Support JEWCS Engineering Officer by providing specialist software advice to progress requirements definition for Capability Packages (NSIP funded projects), acceptance testing, introduction into service and long term support. Provides `intelligent customer` capability for negotiations with contractors.

Undertake duties as tasked by Depth maintenance Chief in the execution of Depth Tasks.

Comply with all JEWCS Configuration, Change and Quality Management procedure and systems when undertaking Depth activities.

Assist in the development and production of engineering and technical processes, procedures and publications to support JEWCS assets.

Assist with Project Management activities in support of tasks for equipment upgrade and overhaul projects as directed by Depth Maintenance Chief.

Carries out additional duties as directed by the JEWCS Engineering Officer.

Additional Duties

The incumbent will be required to perform such other related duties as may be directed by the Director NATO JEWCS.

The incumbent may be required to undertake operational deployments and/or TDY assignments both within and without NATO`s boundaries.

Normally an office environment but in undertaking his duties may be required to visit deployed NATO JEWCS assets for exercises and evaluation. Also hangar and workshop environment in carrying out his managerial functions.

Must be able to liaise effectively, both internally and externally, with military and civilian personnel. Extensive liaison with research and development agencies and civilian contractors in the EW field.

Successful management of the Technical Support Branch is fundamental to NATO JEWCS meeting performance standards during exercises and evaluations

Skills & Attributes

YOU MUST ALREADY HOLD SC LEVEL SECURITY CLEARANCE

Extensive experience of maintaining electronic systems software control and MMI.

Education/Training

HND, HNC or level 4 NVQ or equivalent in relevant discipline.

RF Principals - Electromagnetic Propagation, Antennas and Devices.

Data Networks.

National Instruments Labview Developer Level.

Working in Confined Spaces.

Desirable

EW systems and application, software requirements analysis, configuration control, software maintenance.

Operational analysis.

Maintenance in a military environment.

Education/Training

Degree in Computer/Software Engineering.
