Engineer II (Transmission Substation Engineer) Job

ENGINEER II (TRANSMISSION SUBSTATION ENGINEER) needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Lake Mary, FL.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- This position is responsible for analysing, developing, designing, and supporting implementation of the Transmission Substation Engineering Projects. Design projects range from routine equipment modifications and installations to the complete design of new transmission facilities.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Will be responsible for multiple projects simultaneously to ensure timely release of engineering designs. Utilizes a variety of tools and techniques in order to complete an engineering design, including current design specifications, pertinent code manuals, computer aided design/drafting software, and other reference sources Final product is an engineering release package consisting of pertinent drawings and bills of material.
- Coordinates work to manage multiple projects simultaneously to ensure timely release of engineering designs to meet in-service dates for projects.
- Directs the work of internal or contract CADD operators to develop construction drawings, for transmission substations. Collaborates with other disciplines such as Protection & Controls and Line Engineering. Analyzes engineering scenarios and performs necessary design calculations (eg WinIGS for grounding, etc.) to comply with applicable codes and sound engineering practices.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Be able to apply engineering theory to design physical, functional, and electrical systems.
- Be able to develop layout drawings, detail drawings, and written construction specifications. Conducts detailed technical and financial studies and analyzes alternatives to determine proper equipment and/or applications.
- Prepares, updates and revises design standard construction drawings and one-line/three line schematic diagrams. Provides design support to construction personnel during project implementation. Assists construction in troubleshooting and problem resolution and provides on-site support.
- Be able to modify designs to address construction problems, environmental circumstances and public concerns. Directs CADD Operators to ensure timely completion of field revisions/as-built and returns completed drawings to the electronic drawing management systems.
- Be able to verifies that field modifications will not undermine the integrity of the design and incorporates field modifications into the design documents to ensure configuration control of system components.
