For our client based in Zurich, we are looking for an Email System Engineer
Overview of business area or project:
The Email Systems Engineer will participate in a project with the objective to retire Legacy Sendmail mail routing relays and migrate their function and users to the strategic Proofpoint Sentrion product. In addition, he or she will take over business-as-usual engineering tasks in the email boundary team. The role will work with the mail engineering and operations teams, and the product and project managers.
Key Responsibilities
In support of the life cycling project, the candidate will be responsible for:
- creating, executing and documenting test cases, analysing mail logs
- determining migration strategies
- writing scripts to facilitate migration
- preparing software and configuration changes
- consulting mail operations and application owners.
Business-as-usual engineering includes
- software patching
- email policy configuration changes
- routing changes
- small requests for enhancement
Overview of the departmen:
- Email Boundary Engineering team consists of 3 professional, structured, senior system engineers located in Zürich and is part of global email engineering team
- Engineering team is affiliated to End User Services organization in the Group CTO department
Challenges Contractor will be facing in this role:
- Complexity of mail routing infrastructure with a long history of configuration
- Learning curve to understand client's platforms and toolchains
Essentials Skills and Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience as Email System Engineer
- Advanced Linux, Sendmail skills
- Intermediate network (DNS, Firewall) and OpenLDAP skills
- Script development using Shell script knowledge
- Proven experience in corporate email infrastructure
- Fluent communication in English
- Experience with project work and with cross-cultural collaboration
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Proofpoint Sentrion and Splunk Enterprise products would be an asset
- Java programming experience would be a plus
- German would be a plus
