Electronics Engineer

Proteus Europe operating as an employment business, is currently looking for some PLC Electrical/Controls systems Engineers to work with our clients engineering team which produces state of the art plant control and IT Systems.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

The person should:-

- Be qualified to at least HNC level in an appropriate subject and with a minimum of three years relevant experience.
- Have a good knowledge and understanding of PLC software for plant control and experience of producing software for Schneider (Modicon) and/or Siemens S7 PLCs.
- Have a good knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering for medium and low voltage power distribution, instrumentation and related cabling, panel design for motor starters and PLC systems etc.
- Be capable of demonstrating a structured approach to justifying key engineering decisions.
- Be able to work under own initiative, be well motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to communicate with other engineering disciplines within the design/project team. Engineers will be required to interface with the client and other project partners at all levels.
- Have good personal planning, organisational and analytical skills.
- Be capable of working to challenging programme and budgetary constraints.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

- A good degree in electrical/electronic engineering together with chartered status or the potential to acquire chartered status
- A knowledge of any of the following: - - Other brands of PLC including Rockwell (Allen-Bradley)
- FactoryLink and InTouch SCADA packages
- A working knowledge of AutoCad.
- Experience of working to quality assurance systems certified to ISO9001.
- Experience of complex baggage handling system designs

ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The job would involve some or all of the following responsibilities:

- Development and maintenance of PLC software for plant control.
- Ability to follow design quality procedures in an auditable manner.
- Electrical engineering for power distribution and control
- Liaison with the CAD Designers
- Generation of specifications at all levels
- Programming in high level languages
- Interfacing of control systems
- Liaison at all levels with customers and other project partners.
- Testing and commissioning at the customers' site and sub-contractors
- Engineering Team leadership
- Cost control and reporting
- Project Engineering of smaller to moderate sized projects
- Contribute to the generation of the overall and detailed project programme, including considerations for phased implementation and handover.
