DIVISIONAL DIRECTOR - PLANNING (LOCAL COUNCIL) - CHIEF PLANNING OFFICER

Project People are currently recruiting on behalf of a large London borough Council for a Divisional Director - Planning (Chief Planning Officer), this is a contract opportunity looking to start immediately.

As Divisional Director you will act as the Council's most senior professional Adviser in regards to the Planning Service, facilitating the wide-ranging; spatial, economic, environmental and social; development and regeneration of the London borough.

Your responsibilities as Divisional Director will involve - leading and directing the Planning Services' Division, to enable the achievement of the highest possible professional, customer service and staff leadership standards, ensuring that these are consistently maintained, to facilitate achievement of all relevant service and business objectives, in compliance with legislation, policy and Government regulations.

You will be leading the strategic and general management of the following services/functions on behalf of the Council:

- Planning and Development Management
- Planning Enforcement
- Building Regulations Management
- Urban Design & Conservation

Budget responsibility - up to £10m

Staff - Responsible for 5 Direct reports, and overall for circa 50 staff

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

- Substantial senior level experience, including management of Planning & Development Services
- providing and developing services in partnership with other organisations
- Working knowledge of relevant Health, Safety & Welfare legislation and approved Codes of Practice
- Knowledge of the modernisation and development agenda for Local Government
- Degree and relevant professional qualification in Planning or related subject
- Full Corporate membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
- Intermediate level user of standard office PC applications
- Must hold driving licence valid for the UK
