Disaster Recovery Specialist - Federal Government - 7mth Contract + ex

One of the ACT's most established government departments is looking to appoint an experienced DISASTER RECOVERY SPECIALIST for an initial 3 month contract starting 1st July 2011. You will be responsible for working with the external providers of ICT services to develop and maintain a Disaster Recovery plan and ensure critical services are unaffected in the event of a disaster.

The successful candidate will carry out the following duties:

- Work with the external providers of ICT services to develop and maintain a list of processes and procedures to follow in the event of different disaster scenarios
- Undertake a impact assessment of the Department's ICT services to identify which services are determined to be business critical and acceptable levels of service disruption
- Undertake a risk assessment of the Department's ICT Services to identify and set in place risk mitigation strategies to reduce the likelihood or impact of a disaster to the Department's critical ICT services
- Assist in the recovery of ICT services in the event of a disaster
- Organise and coordinate the testing of the Department's Disaster Recovery plan

The successful candidate will need to meet the following criteria:

- Extensive knowledge and understanding of current disaster recovery planning techniques and the methods used to undertake risk assessments and business impact assessments
- Strong relationship management skills in order to liaise with managers and staff at all levels of an organisation and external providers of ICT services
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, organise and coordinate the testing of Disaster Recovery activities
- Ability to quickly understand the business functions of an organisation
- Good oral and written communications skills
