Digital Web Operations Engineer - Build, Deploy, Release and Configuration - 350/day Based in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne 5 months

Our client are looking for a Digital Web Operations Engineer. The focus of this role will be to build, deploy and operate outstanding digital services including the continuous monitoring, administration and security of all LINUX SERVERS, database Servers, web Servers and application Servers. You will be providing support to the development team by provisioning and building new Servers, helping the team to build, configure and manage complex web application stacks and deploy applications (internal and external-facing systems) using automated tooling and configuration management systems. As part of this you will also be responsible for associated testing, contributing to a robust automated test suite to support a continuous integration environment and test, debug ad troubleshoot platform- level problems as needed.

To be considered you will need to have:

- Demonstrable experience of AGILE practices and techniques
- Experience of working in a LARGE SCALE DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENTS THAT UTILISE JAVA PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE and the JVM platform
- Good understanding of the web, web technologies and protocols, strong systems knowledge, performance tuning and monitoring
- CONFIGURATION AND DEPLOYMENT TOOLS (Chef, Puppet etc would be preferable)
- Experience in MANAGING, BUILDING, CONFIGURING AND MAINTAINING WEB SOLUTION PLATFORMS TO A HIGH STANDARD AND HIGH A AVAILABILITY
- Experience with AUTOMATED TESTING SOLUTIONS (Jenkins, junit would be preferable)
- Experience with open source solutions
- Experience using and deploying on cloud based platforms
- Knowledge of the use of version control systems such as git or subversion
- Ability to quickly research and learn new programming and other tools and techniques
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems
- Experience with monitoring and alerting systems (nagios, sensu, ganglia, collectd preferable)
