Devops Lead

The Role

- Clearwater is a new online service from WorldPay. The service will allow small- to medium sized E-commerce businesses worldwide to start accepting payments from their website within hours.
- Currently, we are set up as an entrepreneurial team with WorldPay with end-to-end responsibility to deliver this service. The most important change is to take back our customer activation time from 30 days to less than 1 day. Target launch date is summer 2014 but a soft-launch is planned for early April.
- We are growing the DevOps capability within WorldPay futures to scale + secure our product in the run up to a full commercial launch in July.

Key Accountabilities

- Technical ownership of a 247 service with 5 9's uptime where reputation management is critical to the business' ongoing success.
- Builds and maintains the WP Futures Production and NPE environments [private/public cloud hybrid model]; works to ensure transition to the global business' core datacenters later in the year (currently CentOS/RHE).
- Ensures the NPE and Production environments are documented within collaboration tools; collaborates with engineering on design + configuration, ensuring a balance of stability, security and flexibility.
- Builds + maintains an automated deployment platform to support continuous delivery processes; owns + maintains the process for the build and deployment of shippable code (currently GitHub, Jenkins/Nexus).
- Builds + maintains monitoring for the Production environments; ensures alerting mechanisms are deployed + appropriately assigned to the support model.
- Works closely with Engineering (Dev/QA) + Technical Operations managers to build a world class engineering pipeline; ensures that releases are stable, scalable & secure when deployed to live service.

Skillsensures that all designs can be translated back to physical infrastructure if required.
- Multi-platform technology experience, including LAMP, Oracle, Ruby, Java, PHP, Python. Is able to develop operations code in one or more of these languages.
- Automated deployment experience, including Jenkins, Sonar, Nexus, Maven, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Anthill or a combination of the above.
- Automated monitoring + alerting experience, including New Relic, Nagios; is able to designis able to design + implement monitoring + responsive, self-healing resilient platforms; experience of fault-tolerant online businesses is a necessity.
- Knowledge of scalability levers in high volume, low latency transactional systems; is able to plan baseline + peak capacity to ensure economic service provision with a 5 9s expectation in hybrid Cloud environments.
- Knowledge of security aspects of financial trading/monetary transfer systems; including but not limited to PCI Compliance, DDOS prevention, IDS + regulatory audit requirements.
- Experience in working in both Agile DevOps environments; is familiar with planning sessions, estimation and ensures that all DevOps tasks are recorded in the ticketing systems and story walls (Altassian).
- Experience in designing + documenting infrastructure platforms including physical, logical, sequenceof particular interest are payment companies, merchant providers, financial trading platforms and online gaming experience.
- Experience of implementing Payment Service Providers as part of a prior role; is familiar with building transactional resilience for multi-PSP operations eg gaming/E-commerce.
- Experience of tokenisation services and other card processing security.
- Experience of scaling a service across hybrid physical/virtual/cloud architectures - from startup to prime time.
- Familiarity with payments related businesses and their internal processes.
- Familiarity in working with Enterprise Architecture functions
