JOB OVERVIEW

Mobile Services Technology team designs, develops, and supports the technology infrastructure supporting Mobile Services' cloud based, global interconnection services set. Mobile Services' Interconnection Services for Operators enables mobile, fixed and OTT providers to expand their horizon, InterconnecT with new networks and services, more users, and reach to the world. It enables operators/service providers to have a global footprint to deliver messages and data. Mobile Services' network connects to over 1000 operators and 6.1 billion subscribers around the world. Mobile Services operator footprint is the largest in the world and carries the highest number of messages in the industry.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Designs and builds the automation, monitoring, and job infrastructure that will help deliver 1.8 billion text messages per day to over 1000 operators reaching 6.1 billion subscribers in over 200 countries
- Helps to design and administer the global database infrastructure driving message delivery through our Person to Person and Enterprise Messaging Hubs
- Leads the effort to analyze automation, monitoring, and tools gaps in the infrastructure and design and build processes and solutions to address
- Provides database design and administration support for Mobile Service's global database infrastructure
- Takes part in a compensated 24x7 on-call rotation

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Expert knowledge in Shell Scripting and at least two of the following languages are required: Perl, PHP, Python, or Java
- Five (5) plus years of experience administering any large high volume databases including at least two of the following: Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ, Sybase Replication Server
- Ability to create, customize, manage network management systems and monitoring tools (Nagios, Ganglia, Graphite, Cacti, etc.)
- Tenacious troubleshooting skills: you can fix anything
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation using tools like Chef and Puppet
- Willingness to take the initiative to contribute beyond your own responsibilities
- Ability and interest to learn and deploy new technology quickly

PREFERRED JOB SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field or equivalent practical experience
- Database geek
- Passionate and self-motivated
- Desire to not only maintain but improve existing systems
- Aptitude for software development (Java, Ruby, Python, C++, etc.), with solid software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, source code control, etc.)
- Strong focus on efficiency, simplicity and maintainability
- Advanced Linux and UNIX skills and experience
- Obsessively detail oriented
- Experience in a "continuous deployment" environments
- Experience with configuring, maintaining, designing Splunk instances
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and drive them from the ground up in a fast-paced environment
- Passionate about designing, building, and maintaining simple, reliable, and innovative operational infrastructure and having fun while doing it.
