SHORT DESCRIPTION:
My client plans to provide Machine Translation Software capable of translating patent documents from Korean to English (Japanese, Chinese, Russian to French) and vice-versa. To improve the translation quality the project searches for support in searching for patent document pairs available in both languages using existing databases, developing text-processing tools in order to find exact translations in document pairs and archiving the patent translations in a database. Document and database administration is part of the tasks.

TASK/DELIVERABLES:

- The contractor will search for English translations of Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Russian patents in different patent repositories.
- The found documents must be Pre- and post-processed and uploaded data to databases including check of the upload completeness.
- The contractor will develop and execute tools/scripts to pre- and post-process (converting and parsing) patent text documents.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Experience on text data processing (eg upload data, search for data in huge repositories, parse and convert very big textiles and data-base administration
- Long experience in software development using the technologies: Java, Unixshell, XML, XSLT, SQL-queries for text document processing such as parser, converter, comparison of tables and files.
- Experience with patent documents and tools/database infrastructure.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Work in a multicultural environment located in Den Haag/NL.
- Open and flexible working attitude
- Very good English and very good in 1 other European language.
