We're looking for a well-rounded DESKTOP SUPPORT TECHNICIAN experienced in supporting both MAC AND PC end users for a fantastic contract opportunity working in the MEDIA BROADCASTING INDUSTRY.

The Desktop Support Technician will implement and support the client firm's PC infrastructure, provide third level technical support, develop and maintain operating system images, develop automated installs of software of all types as needed, and keep up to date on new technology to advise the Desktop Systems Manager.

Ideal candidates will have enterprise experience handling PC infrastructure for 10, 000 or more employees.

OVERVIEW

- Maintain the standard firm Workstation build procedure.
- Maintain the software distribution system.
- Create and support roaming profiles
- Maintain all PC applications that are hosted on the network.
- Test and certify all new PC applications.
- Package all new PC applications to be distributed via the software distribution system.
- Ensure that all applicable PC updates are distributed as needed.
- Automate maintenance tasks through Scripting.
- Maintain Active Directory (domain and desktop policies).
- Provide advanced third level troubleshooting and support.
- Perform evaluation and validation for new software, PC hardware platforms, PDAs, and printers.
- Plan for and evaluate new PC software, hardware, and services.
- Keep abreast of new technologies through industry related periodicals, product presentations, seminars and classes.

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, and/or a minimum of three years' experience in Desktop Systems Engineering
- Experience supporting Mac and PC platforms
- Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills as well as in-depth knowledge of Windows operating system in a network environment
- In depth knowledge of Windows operating systems in a networked environment
- Experience with login Scripting
- Experience with Symantec's Altiris software
- Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills
- Proficient in automated Workstation build methods
- Experience working with software packaging and deployment systems
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) knowledge a big plus
- Macintosh OS X knowledge a big plus
- Ability to produce detailed technical documentation for Client Services and Network Engineering departments
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and effectively complete designated job assignments under significant time and supervisory pressure
- Ability to communicate effectively with firm personnel at all levels and outside parties as necessary
- Interpersonal skills necessary to interact and work productively with the Network Systems team
- Initiative and ability to work independently
- Responsibility, reliability, initiative, patience, determination, assertiveness, inquisitiveness, tenacity, and a desire to learn
- Availability as necessary before or after normal working hours to work on site, over the telephone, or at off-site meetings, in order to meet the demands of the job
- Expected to carry a company-issued Blackberry to insure availability
