Desktop Support Specialist

Our Client, a Federal Government Department is seeking to engage a DESKTOP SUPPORT SPECIALIST for a fantastic 6 month contract. In this role, you will work closely with the senior desktop engineer on the design, development, deployment and operation of our client's desktop systems, including PCs, printers, and associated infrastructure.

Further duties include:

- Assist in the planning and implementation new desktop systems or significant new features.
- Investigate and resolve particularly complex problems with desktop systems in a timely manner to meet operational requirements
- Monitor the performance of desktop systems to detect and prevent problems developing.
- Identify, investigate and recommend changes to systems processes, and policies that would improve the performance, usability and reliability of desktop systems.
- Assist other IC
- Willing to travel interstate if required.
- Extensive and recent experience in the design, development and technical support of desktop systems in a distributed organisation.
- Specialised technical knowledge across a range of desktop technologies, including:

The successful candidate will bring:

- Extensive and recent experience in the design, development and technical support of desktop systems in a distributed organisation.
- Specialised technical knowledge across a range of desktop technologies, including:
- Desktop operating systems: Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows XP
- Standard Operating Environment (SOE) design, development and application packaging
- Enterprisemanagement solutions - including distribution of the SOE, desktop PC software, updates, and patches
- PC applications software such as Microsoft Office 2010, Messaging, and Internet Explorer
- Security software including malware detection and removal, desktop Firewall and disk encryption products
- Desktop and notebook PC hardware
- Printers (networked and locally connected)
- Experience in the use of system monitoring tools.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership, manage a heavy workload in a complex environment and achieve results under pressure and within budget allocations
