Desktop Support Engineer - Banking

Salary: 35-40K + banking benefits + bonus

Location: London City

A boutique global investment bank is looking to hire a Desktop Support Engineer to join their growing support function that ensure maximum uptime, stability and improvements to the core IT infrastructure. The engineer will support a range of business areas across front, middle and back office so should be comfortable with and enjoy working in a diverse and challenging troubleshooting focused capacity. Other aspects of the role will include getting involved with projects/upgrades/roll outs/DR when required and building relationships across multiple technology and business streams within the bank.

Ideal skill set/experience:

* IT Support experience in either a financial/professional services environment
* Strong windows OS support across AD, exchange, applications etc
* Hardware support, including PC/Laptop upgrades/installs/relocations
* Knowledge of Mobile Device, Networks and ideally Market Data (Reuters/Bloomberg etc)
* Good knowledge of technology trends, eg end user devices and applications
* Appreciation of ITIL processes/qualifications
* Ideally hold a computing related degree as most of the team are quite academic

This role would be well suited to a candidate who has completed academia a couple of years ago, has developed some good IT Support skills and experience and is keen to find a company that they can grow their career with long term. More experienced candidates are also well suited as they will be able to hit the ground running.

The bank has a pretty flat structure for a financial services organisation and a very strong focus upon finding not only the right technologists but also the right company fit in employees. They look for 'people people' who are sharp, analytical and highly personable who they will give the opportunity to get exposure across the bank and help to drive forward technology beyond just the needs of the organisation. For this reason while Banking/Finance experience is desirable but not essential.
