Link Technologies is currently looking for a Desktop Engineer for a contract position in Philadelphia, PA. This position will be for a major player in the Healthcare market. Please apply immediately if you are looking for an opportunity to be a part of a quality-driven team!

DUTIES:

- Installs, configures and supports desktop application software using local and network installation methods and customizes installations using software distribution tools.
- Responsible for handling incidents that have been escalated to the team through the Deskside Services.
- Supports client applications to ensure a high level of client satisfaction.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Tests and evaluates desktop applications for use in the environment. Entry to medium level creation and maintenance of automated installations of desktop applications, security patches and utilities using silent setup scripts.
- Assists with the creation and maintenance of Microsoft Windows automated build applications. Possess general understanding of Group Policy Objects and security settings.
- Provides 3rd level support for complex desktop issues. Installs, configures and supports desktops that need to be customized for specific requirements.
- Understands and adheres to standards relating to desktop architecture projects, testing and development.
- Follows guidelines for acceptance tests, processes and procedures. Assures all testing environments are adequate for end user integrated testing.
- Participates in the evaluation, testing and development of silent installs of desktop operating system service packs and security patches required to maintain a stable, secure desktop environment. Assures that antivirus updates are current.
- Ensure that required systems engineering policies, standards and documentation are satisfied, including change control, design specifications and installation instructions. May represent Desktop Team at Change Management Board meetings.
- Participates in evaluation activities for acquisition of new desktop hardware/software.
- May prepare written technical specification documents, indicating technology evaluated, justification, features and cost comparison/analysis.
- Prepares Service Desk team to support implementations/changes by providing support procedures, troubleshooting scripts and training.
- Anticipates being contacted with minimum notice and in some instances without notice to work off-hours (ie evenings, weekends, holidays) to support the resolution of critical production issues, business recovery activities and security incidents.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating disaster recovery materials. Participates in disaster recovery exercises.
- Through vendor contacts and other external sources, keeps up to date on technology trends and provides cost effective and efficient solutions for customers.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of desktop engineering tools.
- Follows appropriate emergency and escalation procedures.
- Furnishes precise, accurate and comprehensive reports. Utilizes provided tools to log and track projects and provide weekly/monthly status reports.
- Attends training sessions to enhance and develop skills.
- Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
- Adheres to KMHP policies and procedures.
- Supports and carries out the Mercy Mission & Values.
