Design Engineer CATIA V5

An Aerospace Design Engineer is required for a 6-12 month contract based on the Isle of Wight.
To conduct design work in support of Engineering project requirements through production, design and development phases.

Key Accountabilities:

Create and update detail for assembly drawings, incorporating engineering change notes, achieving delivery to time cost and quality.
Incorporate upgrade modifications into the drawing set and provide design solutions.
Develop technical solutions, compliant with requirements within agreed programmes and timescales.
Provide engineering input to technical, commercial and contract reviews within the company.
Proactively liaise with internal contacts to report progress and ensure tasking is completed to the correct specifications, time cost and quality.
Follow appropriate quality management procedures for defining technical content and project reporting.
Participate in the support of Engineering continuous improvement plan and "Lean" initiative to develop improved operating processes and procedures.
Liaise with internal customers on a day to day basis in order to meet external customer requirements.
Support the Design Team Leader in the coordination of tasks, monitoring and reporting on delivery performance for the Design Office.
Work effectively with Outsource Service/Offload providers as required.

Skills Qualifications and Experience:

Relevant HNC, Degree (or equivalent) qualification or proven experience within the design sector. Background in aerospace engineering with approximately 3-5 years experience of designing and developing metallic and composite components, creating and updating detail and assembly models/drawings.
Experience of working with composite structures is highly advantageous, however, candidates with metallic only background will be considered.
Experience of working with the aerospace primes ie Airbus, Boeing and Bombardier.
Aircraft Design Experience - Including Nacelle systems and structures for both primary and secondary components.
Experience of incorporating engineering change and upgrade modifications into existing design standards.
Experience of checking drawings or a commitment to move towards holding approved signatory status is essential.
Use of CATIA V5 and associated PLM packages.
CATIA V5 - Composite Design - FiberSIM CEE + ACEE and/or Composite Workbench (CPD) would be highly advantageous.
Experience of quality management systems and configuration control and working with Outsource Service/Offload providers.
Excellent PC skills, good working knowledge of MS Office and MS Project packages.
