Design Engineer

Job Purpose

To become part of a small design team to develop and grow the technical core competences of the company, enhancing the internal design expertise, in line with strategic growth plans of the business.

You will be involved in 2 main areas of design projects:

- Spot /MIG welding and SPR Jigs & fixture designs for the automotive industry Body in White.
- Special purpose machine design for Automotive seat manufacturers i.e. Riveting machines, Bolting stations, Hydraulic systems, automated assembly, test machines

Ideally should have a background within the Automotive industry designing jigs & fixtures using CAD Catia/Inventor/Solidworks. Some experience of Automated Tooling, MIG and Spot Robot welding cell tooling, RobCAD or Delmia for robot simulations would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

- Create jig and tooling 3D models
- To complete work on 3D models adding in fixing holes, fixings and producing parts lists
- To produce engineering 2D drawings for issue into the manufacturing dept
- Work as part of a dynamic team with a can do attitude
- Methodical working approach to eliminate potential drawing errors
- Improve efficiency with attention to detail ensuring right first time
- Adhere to Engineering Design Processes
- Ensure successful delivery of work against planned timing
- Source & liaise with various component suppliers to facilitate jig & fixture design
