Position Summary
The Monmouth University School of Science is seeking applications for Chair of the Department of Biology with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2014, pending final budgetary approval. The successful candidate will have a record of teaching excellence and scholarly achievement consistent with a tenured appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level. Candidates should be familiar with current issues in biological education and be committed to mentoring of undergraduate research.

The Department Chair will have the opportunity to teach introductory or upper level courses at a reduced load, develop and implement departmental goals, coordinate and evaluate the academic performance of faculty members, mentor junior faculty, oversee recruitment efforts, manage the department budget, participate in University governance, and ensure compliance with University policies and procedures.
