I currently have a fantastic opportunity for x2 DB2 System Programmers/Senior Database Administrators with data security and disaster recovery experience, for one of the World's leading Service Integrators, to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Candidates will be responsible for managing physical databases, for delivering designs and implementing back-ups, recovery, archiving, and conversion strategies.
The successful candidates will manage and maintain data definitions in all production and non-production databases and replication Servers; manage database distribution, security, and access requirements; designs and developing logical and physical layers of databases and Handle testing, reporting, back-up, and restores.
You will provide technical assistance and mentoring to staff for developing conceptual and logical database design and the physical databases. You will recommend, install, and maintain database software as well as monitoring performance, and you will be performing database training and assisting the application developers with train tuning efforts.
Design, monitoring, and tuning large/high volume DB2 z/OS applications will be core to the role, and day two activities will include logical and physical database design, supporting distributed access, back-up, recovery, reorg, archiving, data conversion, data security, database and application training, supporting testing efforts and recommending and supporting database software.
