DB2 DBA, Bank, Brussels

BACKGROUND:

My client, a large bank in Brussels, is seeking a DB2 DBA (on z/OS) to join the Databases team which is in charge of the management of Databases and Business Intelligence infrastructures.

The team takes care of the installation and configuration of the software as well as the support of the production and test systems. It also provides technical guidelines and participates in design reviews, working in close collaboration with project leaders and development teams.

As part of the team, you will ensure the stability, performance and security of the infrastructure and manage the software versioning and patching.

TASKS:

As a Database Administrator you will manage the IBM Mainframe Database infrastructure to ensure the production stability, availability and security;
Troubleshoot incidents and problems;
Monitor and tune the performance;
Provide technical advices and guidelines to development teams and project leaders to make an efficient use of the database infrastructure while respecting the best practices and company policies and processes;
Participate in the review of applicative designs and the deployment in production;
Maintain the versioning of software;
Ensure the recoverability of the Data (business continuity);
Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of data management principles and be an expert of the DB2 database.

You will participate in the watch duty rotation: launch support and maintenances during out of office hours will be required.

Ideally you have proven experience in DB2 Administration and installation and in Application support environment:
- to install, monitor and manage versions of the different software;
- to identify, analyze and propose improvements to applications and SQL performance;
- to be familiar with Datamodelling techniques (eg: to review and propose improvements to Datamodelling and application design).

- IBM DB2 Tools;
- Omegamon for DB2;
- CA Insight for DB2;
- Data Replication (Q Replication and SQL Replication also known as DPROPR);
- QMF for z/OS, QMF HPO, QMF for Windows;
- DB2 Connect;
- DDF/WLM Store procedures;
- Cobol or PL/I and Assembler programming (exit routines, ...);
- Rexx, Clist, Ispf etc;
- Parallel SYSPLEX and DB2 data sharing.

Skills and experience with performance monitoring, performance traces analysis and Datamodelling are a must!

LANGUAGE: English (essential) plus French or Dutch (not essential but nice to have)
