Database Migration Specialist- Contract

Database Migration Specialist required for a company based in Dublin City Centre.

Contract duration is 1 MONTH.

The person engaged will be responsible for the migration of the core business data from ORACLE TO MS SQL SERVER 2012.

Using a suitable methodology for the project, this role will involve

- Analysing the existing database and designing a SQL Server database to provide same functionality
- Identify potential issues including data type differences across DB platforms
- Migrating database objects including tables, views, triggers, PL/SQL packages, Java code, and stored procedures making any changes for the different ways that other databases implement the functionality vs. SQL Server
- Migrating SQL within externalised iBatis data layer.
- Liaising with both .NET and Java development resources to ensure that there are no code implications
- Migrating data
- Verifying database schema and validating that the data was migrated correctly
- Working with the test team to ensure application functions as expected and that there is no performance degradation
- Setting up and validating security, monitoring and replication functions as appropriate
- Validating data in SQL Server database for technical accuracy and functionality
- Working with the test team through user acceptance testing
- Training and knowledge transfer
- Implementation of production environment
- Post production support

You will have:

- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Oracle database administration
- SQL database administration
- SQL design and architecture
- SQL clustering and DR planning and implementation
- 10+ years professional experience required with experience in similar migration projects
