Database Engineer Senior

Our client is one of the world's most popular financial services seeking a Database Engineer to primarily support Greenplum database implementation and database activities. The candidate will perform Scripting, automation of routine tasks, performance tuning and other database related activities. In addition, s/he will represent the team in the project meetings.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: requirements gathering, installation, capacity planning, database physical design, architecture and implementation of large infrastructures, developing complex Shell Scripts, preparing specifications and defining best practices and standards, backup and recovery.

Qualifications:

- 8+ years of DBA experience including 2+ years of GreenPlum DBA and large (multi-terabytes) Greenplum Data Warehouses implementations required
- Strong GreenPlum Database expertise combined with sharp conceptual and analytical thinking. Extensive knowledge of BI/DW architectures and experience in implementing data warehouses
- Nice to have skills: Working knowledge of DB2 LUW, Oracle a plus
- Experience with Polymorphic Data Storage, including tunable compression and support for both row and column oriented storage within a database

- Bachelor's or Master's degree

Duration of assignment: 6 months with opportunity to extend and convert.
