Database Administrator

On behalf of our client in the Life Science industry, Harvey Nash is looking for a Professional Database Administrator for a 6 months project in Switzerland.

The role is about planning and executing all database-related activities and operations, developing and implementing system concepts; implementing, maintaining, monitoring and updating cross-platform distributed databases.
- You are responsible for
- planning and monitoring the usage of databases
- implementing, maintaining and operating distributed databases
- monitoring the data integrity
- executing database monitorings to processes, objects and reports
- elaborating and executing database specific processes (security, reorganisation and restore)
- troubleshooting measures in the operational environment of databases
- carrying out repair actions on defective databases
- establishing migration plans and executing migrations

Project Timing

- 8 weeks collecting all the application that use generic accounts in MS SQL databases and other applications
- 16 weeks coordinating the password consolidation for SQL and other accounts

Project requirements

- With all the generic accounts that should have password consolidation, contact the business owners to coordinate the password change in a maintenance window
- Collect the number of application that use MS SQL generic accounts and contact the application owners to rate the risk of all the applications
- For those SQL generic accounts that should finally have password consolidation, coordinate the password change in a maintenance window. The same approach will be done with other applications
- Risk analysis of Generic Accounts: Classification of generic accounts depending on the criticality of the applications in use, 8 weeks
- Completion of the Password consolidation: coordinate the execution of the password change in collaboration with the business owners, 16 weeks.
- Document the whole process
- Consolidated Excel document and table in the database with all the Generic accounts, responsible person, contact information applications used for every generic account
- Project Plan to execute the password change in the maintenance windows agreed with the stakeholders

Integration Requirements

- Coordinate the password change in the applications and in MS Active Directory

Requirements

- Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL. Experience with MySQL is a plus
- Microsoft Active Directory troubleshooting and operation experience is a must
- Hands-on experience with MS Windows 2003 and 2008
- Microsof Excel knowledge
- Hands-on experience parsing text/Excel files with regex, knowledge in related lagnguages is a plus (TCL, Perl, Python, etc.)
- Good coordination and project management skills is a must.
- Fluent in English is a must
