Database Administrator

Link Technologies is looking for the ideal Database Administrator for our client located in Las Vegas, NV.  This position will function as a Database Administrator for the administration, maintenance, and conversion of an IDMS Relational Database.

Duties will include:

- Become familiar with and maintain the current IDMS database architecture
- Ensure storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
- Monitor performance and tune the database
- Work closely with and communicate with project team members to achieve project goals
- Demonstrate professional organization, documentation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Attend meetings, maintain and communicate accurate status of work performed 
- Maintain current knowledge of technology
- Work closely with application/development teams to identify and resolve any and all IDMS related issues
- Manage and control permissions and privileges
- Develop and maintain database documentation, as required
- Work with Oracle DBAs to execute and maintain the existing processes used to migrate IDMS data to Oracle

Special Skills:

- Knowledge and experience with IBM Mainframe CA IDMS version 18.
- Knowledge and experience with IBM Mainframe z/OS ver. 1.11 or higher.
- Knowledge and experience with IDMS relational databases.
- Demonstrate proficiency with all IDMS utilities; primarily those related to journaling, logging, unloading/reloading, area maintenance, and validation.
- Knowledge of IDMS OCF/BCF processes, PMRM, OPER, and other online utilities.
- Knowledge and experience with IDMS CULPRIT.
- Knowledge and experience with z/OS JCL, ISPF/TSO, CLISTs, and utilities.
- Knowledge and experience in project development, application analysis, design, programming, testing and installation.
- Experience with major projects and working with multiple agencies.
- Must have five (5) or more years of database management experience.
- Knowledge and experience with the operation of personal computers, standard office software, programming, and testing tools required.
- Ability to communicate and translate technology and issues in understandable terms for audiences:      stakeholders, end users, technical/business analyst staff, business analyst staff, and technology vendors from multiple agencies/companies.
- Ability to self-direct and work with minimal direction to meet critical deadlines.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise and detailed database design, testing, issue, system, implementation plan documentation.
- May be required to drive a personal motor vehicle in the course of the work.
- May be required to work onsite.
- Exposure to AIX and Oracle not required, but helpful.
