Data Scientist - Edinburgh (Big Data, Hadoop)

My Edinburgh based client is an international success story and is one of the worlds fastest growing UK Software companies, with clients all over the world.

They have taken on some extremely talented and experienced developers in the UK this year and are now embarking on their second phase of growth.

X Factor of the role:
You will work on their highly scalable marketing-driven analytics solution, on the behalf of several household name clients, and will deal with challenges that very few companies encounter on a day to day basis. You will be part of a select few working within this department so if you want a challenge and fast track your career read on.

Your Role:
They are looking for world-class data scientists who will help them achieve the highest ROI possible via driving deep data analytics. You will design and build the analytics platform which includes data collecting, processing pipeline and reporting; conduct A/B tests and review analytics initiatives.

If you are passionate about data, not afraid of dealing with large data sets, and can tell a story using data, this is the job for you!

Your skill-set:
- degree in science/engineering with programming experience
- commercial experience in big data analytics, ideally in online marketing
- Experience with database technologies (e.g. SQL Server, oracle) & business intelligence / reporting tools like Microsoft BI etc
- Self-starter, strong sense of ownership, getting things done
- A background in Statistics

Ideally you will have experience with the following:
- Hadoop
- Analysis Algorithms
- Passion for solving complex optimisation problems
