Data Modeller

6 month contract for a Data Modeller. This is a role to work within a Central Government organisation, based in Central London.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

- Distributing data to local partnerships, and resolving issues raised by them.
- Undertaking due diligence of modelling by others
- Modelling and analysing mobile infrastructure data to influence optimal distribution and sizes of masts and other solutions.
- Responding to ad-hoc requests for speculative analyses.
- To develop processes (governance and execution procedures) for maintaining data across internal and external sources.
- Work with Service Management, internal partners and external suppliers to establish scope for in-house change.

Outputs/Deliverables to be achieved

- Successful candidate will support ongoing work to extend and improve range and volume of data available as fully Open (LinkedData) and accessible outputs via the Department's flagship OpenDataCommunities programme.
- Key tasks include: 1. Working with data users and publishers to agree and priorities datasets for release in fully open, accessible formats; 2. Collaboration with the OpenDataCommunities project team to model, convert and maintain sources available via the underlying LinkedData platform - ie SPARQL endpoint. 3. Support the ODC project team to improve tools and processes used to curate, publish and maintain LinkedData outputs

Skills/Experience Required

- Practical experience and proven track-record in: a) modelling and transforming data from Legacy systems into open, standard outputs (RDF and LinkedData preferred) b) developing processes for transforming data from Legacy systems (this will include a mix of statistical, operational/transactional, geographic sources).
- Strong communications and inter-personal skills, with experience of working openly and collaboratively to transfer knowledge and expertise to others in the team.
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team of specialist data publishers and end-users
- Working in a large government/public-sector organisation
