Data Centre Engineer/Desktop Engineer - Cabling, Infrastructure, TCP/IP, Cisco, Networking, CAT 5/7.

My client is looking for Data Centre Engineer/Desktop Engineer whose responsibilities will include but are not limited to:- - Installation/Testing of patch cables, basic server install/troubleshooting
- Booking in/accepting deliveries and access requests
- Conducting backup tape changes/acting as remote hands for customer requests
- Installations of Servers and network equipment as directed
- Manage site inventory of cables, power strips etc

You will have basic server configuration skills and installation experience and be used to working on a shift pattern (call out and over night work will be required). A customer focussed and pro-active attitude is a must together with excellent verbal and communication skills. You will be responsible for technical space on a day-day basis to meet datacentre standards and be able to work with minimal supervision. Highly desirable skills include strong knowledge of network cabling infrastructure including installation and testing of CAT6, fibre and co-ax cabling. An understanding of cable management and best practices within a data centre rack environment. Switch configuration experience. Experience within a datacentre is not required but highly desirable.
