Data Architect

Principal Accountabilities:

* Develop a knowledge based "Enterprise Data Model" for sharing the Data architecture across the organisation at conceptual, logical, and physical levels

Develop and Manage Data Models

Develop and Manage Data Ownership and Residency Matrix and Diagrams

Develop and Manage Data Usage Matrix

Develop and Manage Data Migration Scope

Develop and Manage the Application Data Mappings

Develop and Manage the Business Process Model Data Mappings

Develop and Manage the Interface, Process and Report Mappings

Develop and Manage the Business Data rules

* To participate in projects to assist in the use of ESCS Architecture standards, acting as a coach/mentor and/or delivery agent as required
* Review functional and technical designs to validate end-to-end information flow internal across EDFE applications and externally with Industry Market Participants
* Support the Business and Solution Architects in the ESCS Business Units in defining their data landscape and work with the Business Units to ensure continuity of data architectures
* Provide input into the development and implementation of information and data related standards on behalf of the Design Authority
* Together with IT operations and the ESCS Divisions, assist in maintaining the ESCS application and technology roadmaps.
* Share knowledge with EDFE interested parties that will be benefit in the development of future change and/or operational capabilities of the Applications

Mandatory Technical Skills Required

Qualifications and Experience

* Experience in designing best practice data and information architecture for the relevant division or related industry sectors. Knowledge of existing architecture, while helpful, is not essential.
* Have understanding of the data architecture, where data is used, where data is mastered, data dependencies, data flow, data retention periods
* Exposure and/or experience of Big Data concepts and practices, data warehouses, business intelligence and analytics systems o Experience of the design and construction of software application solutions, preferably with significant experience as a Data Analyst, Data Modeler and/or DBA/Developer prior to moving into an architectural design role.
* Exposure to working in a business focused environment using a mixture of packaged applications and custom developments
* Experience in applying information architecture governance for business IT projects to ensure that projects meet not only the needs of the business unit but also of the wider company whilst adhering to appropriate standards
* Knowledge of ISO 27001, and specifically Information Asset Management is desirable although not essential Technical and Commercial Knowledge and Skills
* Structured career in Data Architecture with a minimum of 5 years as a Data Architect and track record of delivering an integrated data architecture
* Experience in the definition and ownership of Data related principles and standards within an organisation
* Data modeling experience; specifically designing logical and physical models from both business requirements and reverse-engineering of existing databases.
* Well developed data analysis skills.
* Business Intelligence / Data Warehousing
* Exposure to defining data architectures for structured and unstructured data
* Awareness of key current IT industry architectures, enterprise solutions and applications.
* Awareness of technology trends and directions and how they may support different business needs.
* Experience in working with and supervising system integrators
* Experience of SAP, SAP archive objects, archiving strategies and implementation approaches

Overview

There are a large number of systems in the clients B2C work stream, using SAP, and the architect will be required to get in and understand the SAP Data Model. You will be required to find out what data means, where it has come from and if it is of use, falling in line with compliance ISO27001. This will be a process from scratch. You will need to pick the blueprint up, make your ideas on how you would like to structure it and run with it. Some data will be of use, some will need to be archived and it is up to you to do this to make sure there is no lost data that could cause potential issues.
