The succesful candidate will join a team of 8 which will continue to grow you will become a core member of the team and will be expected to contribute on the technical aspects in the following way:

* Document and understand the full end to end operation of the business rules engine.
* Document and implement mapping changes as required.
* Maintenance of existing rules and development of new rules to support the changing needs of Retail.
* Gain a detailed understanding of rules engine processes and limitations including C# code and orchestration packages.
* Challenge existing rules and implement processing efficiencies.

Maintainance of the Retail MI platform:

* Perform DBA activities on four SQL server databases to ensure optimum performance.
* Support daily and monthly reporting processes in accordance with defined SLA's.
* Implement system changes in accordance with the Change Control process.
* Support users of the system in terms of reporting and data queries.

Development of the Retail MI platform:

* Support on-going development of the existing system to improve useability to existing users, ie. processing efficiencies, data presentation layers/summaries, point in time reporting, journalling capability etc.
* Contribute to the future design of the wider group rollout.

* Over five years' experience of working with the Microsoft BI stack, in particular:

* Highly competent in database design and build using SQL Server 2008 R2
* Highly competent in procedural T-SQL, including control-of-flow, error-handling and query-plan optimisation
* Highly competent in SSIS 2008 package development
* Significant experience of developing software or scripts in at least one .Net language (C# preferred)

* Experience of the complete lifecycle of database application development.
* Proven understanding of data-warehousing concepts, including star schema, slowly-changing dimensions and presentation layers.
* Developer-level competence in MS Excel and Access, including VBA application development.
* Able to undertake detailed DBA administration tasks in

* Windows Server 2008
* SQL Server 2008 R2
* SSIS 2008

* Proven delivery of system developments against plan and timely escalation of issues or risks.
* Experience of business analysis gained in a reporting or BI system deployment.
