Copywriter for Website Transition to GOV.UK

Background
Our central government client has a 3 month requirement based in London for a Copywriter for Website Transition to GOV.UK.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all content forming part of the organisations transition meets the organisations user needs and is compliant with the GOV.UK style guide.

This will include:
- Developing a thorough knowledge of the GOV.UK content management system and style guide
- Working with Digital Team members to identify content that needs to be written for/updated on GOV.UK
- Working with content owners throughout to produce user-centric content for GOV.UK which meets the GOV.UK style guide. This is likely to include (but not limited to). Development of a training programme and best practice examples. Training staff. Reviewing and critiquing content. Acting as the 'second pair of eyes' for content produced by staff. Publishing content on GOV.UK. Ensuring content integrates effectively with existing GOV.UK content - this may involve the need for editing this content This will require close collaboration with colleagues throughout the organisation (in the UK and overseas). It will also require close working with other Government Departments.

Skills/Experience Required
Essential Evidence of:
- Examples of writing content for a public facing website
- Evidence of working with content management tools on a public website
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Internet and social media channels
- Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Good team-working abilities and a flexible and adaptable approach to work
- Ability to work to tight deadlines

Desirable
- Experience of working on the GOV.UK website
- Experience of working on business-to-business web content

Formal Qualifications Required
Desirable
Some formal Copywriting qualification (Diploma level)
