Controls Engineer (HMI)

Yoh has an excellent contract opportunity for a CONTROLS HMI ENGINEER to join our client in Erie, PA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design and development of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) at subsystem and system level.
- Designs would require concepts that include studies of human factors, cognitive psychology and usability testing.
- In this role the HMI engineer will work with industry agencies as well as customers to identify and capture requirements.
- HMI engineer will utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
- Define requirements and interfaces for locomotive Human Machine Interface -Design, integrate, implement and validate Human Machine Interface for locomotive and Train Control Systems, suitable for application in both English and non-English speaking environments .
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
- Interact with internal and external customers, vendors, and industry agencies.
- Lead/Support investigation, root-cause identification, and resolution of reliability issues.
- Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project.
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's of Science in Engineering or Computer Science or five (5) years of direct HMI design experience.
- At least three (3) years of experience in an engineering position.
- Experience in human factors, simulating or implementing Human Machine Interfaces.

PREFERRED JOB SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

- Masters in Engineering with a focus on HMI,
- Experience with Human Machine Interface for Embedded systems
- Experience with Human Machine Interface validation testing
- Experience with transportation/locomotive systems, HMI, control, diagnostics, design or test -Experience with statistical tools such as Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) tools (ie FMEA, Score Cards)
- Solid technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
- Strong oral and written communication skills
