Contract Solutions Architect - South Dublin, Ireland

CLIENT:
Our client a leading global financial company requires Contract Solutions Architect for 6 month role in South Dublin.
ROLE:
As a member of the EMEA CTO Architecture team, the candidate will articulate architecture strategy throughout the region to support systems delivery.
Design component/service-based systems architectures to meet objectives for business processing needs.
As an individual contributor, this position has no direct line management responsibilities but is a major contributor to the success of mission critical, complex, typically large, often enterprise-wide major systems projects and innovations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures alignment to architecture standards and guiding principles (Applications, Infrastructure, blueprints) through close alignment with the Enterprise architects.
- Works (collaborates) effectively across technical domains, with Enterprise Architects and other technical resources
- Ensures delivery of end-to-end solutions that meet business requirements
- Develop component-based solutions that are flexible, loosely coupled and highly cohesive.
- Promotes reuse of existing data models and software
- Supports multiple concurrent project assignments.
- Contributes to architecture blueprints and strategic design activities
- Effectively negotiates delivery dates for SDLC architecture deliverables with Project Manager and teams.
- Participates in planning activities with project team providing direction from architecture perspective
- Identifies risks and issues and recommends effective mitigation strategies
- Leads technical assessments of vendor products or new technologies.
- Responsible for ensuring those solutions have the appropriate security controls in place to protect and maintain the highest level of confidentiality of all data.
- Meet with project stakeholders to understand and document their specific requirements, issues, and concerns related to the system/application architecture.
- Develop resource and time estimates for system/application architecture definition and documentation tasks.
- Understand functional and non-functional requirements for complex systems/applications, and help develop non-functional requirements if necessary.
- Understand the various types of tools and technologies in the market and their appropriate usage.
- Understand corporate technology standards and policies, and be able to communicate their implications to project teams as they relate to specific development efforts.
- Provide technical direction to personnel performing systems analysis and system/application development tasks.
SKILLS:
- Primary or Secondary degree in a related technical discipline
- Experience in insurance or financial services systems development including in the design of component- and/or service-based systems/applications.
- Ability to interact with multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to lead technology evaluation efforts, including the definition of the evaluation criteria, identification of technologies to be evaluated, and the actual evaluation
- Ability to create and deliver technical presentations to technical and non-technical staff, as appropriate to the target audience.
- Ability to engage with project teams in a leadership role, advocating on behalf of architectural principles and standards, and making compromises where appropriate.
- Experience of performance testing strategies to validate non-functional requirements.
- Experience of data integration patterns (ETL, EII, MDM) and tools (IBM InfoSphere, IBM MDM).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior experience in an International environment.Ability to manage team meetings and presentations and coordinate with off-site teams and or vendors.
- Prior experience of TOGAF.
- Experience in the definition and delivery of a Service Based Architecture via ESB technology
EXPERIENCE OF THE FOLLOWING TECHNOLOGIES IS DESIRABLE:
- IBM WebSphere Application Server
- SiteMinder
- IBM Content Manager, IBM FileNet
- Cognos, Qlikview
EXPOSURE:
- The ACTURIS PLatform an advantage.
- Citrix Enablement to support the offshoring of Business Processes.
