Consultant in Pediatric Ophthalmology

Dream Medical are currently recruiting for a Consultant in Pediatric Ophthalmology in the South East of England.

This vacant post is due to start in the coming month and applications are being taken right away.

You will join a team of 14 Consultants already at the trust and will be expected to undertake 10 PA's per week.

This is a new post which will take responsibility for leading the Paediatric Ophthalmic service across the two main hospital sites, including screening for ROP which is housed at one of the Hospital sites and has been for the last couple of years.

Full Orthoptic and Optometric services are available across the sites with good facilities for the majority of paediatric services including cataract, strabismus, electrodiagnostics and paediatric anaesthesia.

The unit has two dedicated Ophthalmic theatres at one of the sites and a further theatre at the other Hospital site.

The aim of the Trust is to provide a high quality standard of healthcare throughout all specialties and training and mentoring is actively encouraged.

There are around 3,500 operations per year which are mainly day-cases and access to 6 in-patient beds.

Microsurgical skills teaching and training is a particular strength of the unit and as well as having a well-established skills centre, the unit has just purchased an EyeSi surgical simulator with both cataract and Vitreo-Retinal modules.
