Consultant Head and Neck Surgery

Dream Medical are currently assisting a Foundation Trust in the South East of England with a Surgical Consultant position.

The position is a Head and Neck position due to commence in March 2013 on a salaried basis.

The successful applicant will provide a diagnostic and surgical treatment service for patients with Head and Neck and Thyroid Disease, undertaking outpatient and operating sessions.

You will work with the Head and Neck Cancer Lead to ensure that patients with Head and Neck and Thyroid disease are appropriately supported through their diagnosis and treatment and that, wherever possible, cancer waiting time targets are met. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in relevant local and national audits including the DAHNO Head and Neck Audit and the BAETS Thyroid and Endocrine Audit.

The successful candidate will be a Consultant in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology / Head & Neck Surgery, and thus a member of the Directorate of Surgery and Anaesthetics.

You will participate in the 1:6 on-call rota. In addition to the Head and Neck / Thyroid special interest work, there will be an opportunity to participate in the provision of general ENT Outpatient services.

This Department is part of the Directorate of Surgery, along with other surgical specialties. This Surgical Directorate is led by a Director of Surgery. The total population served is approximately 660,000.

The Department also comprises:

Two Associate Specialists
Four Specialty (Staff Grade) Doctors
Two Specialist Registrars
Five F2 Doctors and two GPVT'S (SHO equivalent)
One Hospital Practitioner (one session per week)
One nurse practitioner providing Aural and Tracheostomy care services

The Salary range is indicated above but is negotiable for the right candidate.
