Consultant Accident and Emergency

Dream Medical are currently seeking an NHS experienced Accident & Emergency Consultant for a temp to perm contract in the North of England.

The £370m state-of-the-art hospital complex opened in March 2012 bringing all acute services (including Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery) to a single site.

The new Emergency Department offers modern facilities including state of the art diagnostics, an 8 bedded resus and CT scanner within 20 metres of the helipad and a co-located Children's Emergency Department and Assessment Unit .

The department will see around 120,000 new attendances per year with around 30,000 of these being paediatric, and acts as a tertiary referral centre for Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic and Trauma patients.

Working on the Consultant Rota, you will be responsible for senior clinical leadership within the Emergency Department. The post holder will work alongside the existing Consultant body in providing cover 16 hours a day in the department until midnight with resident cover overnight for trauma.

The post holder will be expected to work with other members of the Emergency Medicine Team to provide first class clinical care in Adult and Paediatric Emergency Medicine. You will provide clinical leadership, including delivery of the Clinical Quality Indicators for Emergency Medicine. You will be expected to supervise and teach junior medical staff and nurse practitioners.

The post-holder will be expected to take an appropriate share in the management and administrative workload of the Department. All Consultants are involved in planning and developing the service. The department actively encourages the development of specialist interests within the Emergency Medicine field.
