COMPLIANCE MONITORING MANAGER

The role of Compliance Monitoring Manager is to improve and maintain the Compliance Monitoring Programme and annual plan, ensuring that reviews and reporting are delivered on time with a high quality output. This helps the business ensure that regulatory controls are in place throughout Hastings Insurance Services Limited and all regulatory obligations are adhered to.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

- To lead monitoring staff on key reviews providing support, training and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and strong change management processes
- To support the design, production and review of the Compliance Monitoring Universe and the determination of plans to deliver appropriate assurance to the business
- To deliver compliance reviews and assurance activity consulting with Senior Management to formulate and agree effective solutions to any identified shortfalls
- Provide input to the continuous development and improvement of the Compliance Monitoring Programme's methodology and approach
- To ensure appropriate engagement is maintained from Senior Management and ensure that the relevant requirements of all stakeholder are met
- To deliver clear and accurate reporting in a timely manner raising any key findings, the impact that these may have on the customer base and the business and provide further root-analysis of the issue wherever possible
- Completion of resource planning to ensure the Compliance Monitoring timetable remains on schedule at all times, providing Real Time feedback to the Risk and Compliance Director where there are any delays
- To provide guidance and recommendations to the business on policy and procedures in relation to compliance with the FSA's principles, rules and guidance, the Date Protection Act, relevant regulatory and legislative requirements and Financial Ombudsman's guidance
- To support the business in achieving proportionate and effective oversight of suppliers, outsourced activity and Appointed Representatives
- To lead the production and maintenance of Hastings' Rule Mapping document ensuring that the document remains up-to-date and can be used during all Compliance reviews
- To complete ongoing assessments of competency within the monitoring team and provide assurance to the Risk and Compliance Director in relation to the output of the team
- To maintain a log of all actions and lead the ongoing review of these actions to ensure that are completed on time and that the relevant evidence is stored
- To complete daily and monthly management duties including performance reviews and 1-2-1 ensuring the outputs are documented and provided to the Risk and Compliance Director

KNOWLEDGE:

- Excellent knowledge of FSA Regulation and the Data Protection Act
- A working knowledge of risk assessment and identification
- Must have a high level of accuracy
- Insurance broking experience

COMPETENCIES:

- To have a full understanding of the FSA requirements for insurance intermediaries
- To have a full understanding of the DPA requirements for insurance intermediaries
- To understand the purpose and objectives of a Compliance Monitoring Programmed and how these are delivered

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

- A minimum of two years compliance experience in a General Insurance environment
- A minimum of 12 months experience in a Compliance Monitoring Role or Internal Audit Role
- Insurance broking experience (preferably call centre based)
- To have excellent organisation skills
