BASIC FUNCTION:

Under general supervision, plan and implement socialization and developmental art center programs for clients or community members that are adults or children (5-17) who might be experiencing homelessness. Assist in the implementation of activities of the daily program, understanding the needs of clients and exercising appropriate judgment in order to meet the needs of the participants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of visual and performance art programs. Program implementation would include distribution of art materials and teach participants how to repurpose the material in to retail product.
- Provide guidance to several volunteers including delegation and reviews.
- Coordinate in conjunction with Program Director and Director, Marketing and Communications and market art center services program activities through newsletters and flyers as directed.
- Establish positive partnerships with community resources, specializing in visual and performance arts to assist in the development of art center programming.
- Plan and develop recreational activities related to the arts that will assist participants in reaching their fullest potential.
- Plan special events, which include clients and their families and members of the community, such as field trips to the art museum, theater or state parks.
- Maintain accurate inventory, recommend expenditures, and identify resources for in kind contributions for program supplies and equipment.
- Implement and evaluate recreational activities as it relates to the arts, in order to meet program goals and objectives.
- Complete and maintain appropriate paperwork which may include forms, incident reports, attendance logs, and other paperwork as appropriate and needed.
- Maintain supplies for the program.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of client information including but not limited to behavioral issues relevant to programming and other facets unique to clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Frequent sitting, standing, talking and hearing for field trips and facilitating the classes.
- Constant grasping, holding, finger dexterity, reading, writing, eye-hand coordination for distribution of art materials, newsletters and flyers.
- Constant climbing of stairs to 3rd floor.
- Occasional need to walk, bend, squat, reach above head and drive.

- Combination of education and experience normally represented by an Associate's Degree in Art, Education, Human Services or Recreation.
- Must have 1-2 years of experience working in the field of the arts. Prefer 1-2 years of experience with community organizing/building community partnerships.
- Must have competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to get in front of a class or group.
- Must be well organized, detail oriented and have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work with diverse client population and community organizations as well as staff at all levels.
- An understanding of issues specific to certain client populations preferred.
- Must have familiarity with community resources.
- Ability to show patience and courtesy when working with people.
- Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work as a member of a team required.
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License and reliable means of transportation for local travel.
- Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
